Preferred
specialization and enormous Impact it in the online space
My preferred specialization is conducting
research and surveys and technical writing. The process of research and
technical writing was traditionally done but has now grown exponentially in the
online space. In data collecting, Research and technical writing now adopt
different strategies of gathering data such as using web surveys and through
emails. Lately, interviews and group discussions in online space has been
undertaken to gather data as well as using social media as a rich source of naturally occurring data.The analysis of research data has also adopted
online space through technologies that have become rampantly used in content coding
and analysis.
Opportunities
and Gaps in Online Space
Thousands of people from all professions
have moved online and many have aggressively promoted their presence through
utilizing search engines, email lists, and many other forms of online spaces. The
online space has presented opportunities for researchers to access diverse
populations for data collection and this has saved time and reduced cost.
However, there are some gaps in online
space identified include the fact that still, only limited scholars utilize
technologies in their research practice. A number have argued that, use of technology
for online research could limit the researcher to understand verbal and oral
phenomena such as gestures and auditory data.
